About Us

Our members represent all components of the uniformed military services with a wide variety of experiences at all levels of staff and command positions world wide.

History-The Stones River Chapter was chartered in September 1995 as an affiliate of the Retired Officers Association. It served and represented counties in Eastern and Southern Middle Tennessee, as it does today.

Mission-As a local affiliate of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the Stones River Chapter engages in actions to promote the purposes and objectives of the national organization throughout the year.

Operational Concept-The Stones River Chapter focuses on four tenets of action in accomplishing its mission: legislative advocacy; military support; philanthropy; and camaraderie.  Examples of areas of emphasis in each tenet are:

Our minimum goals are:

  • To promote the purposes and objectives of MOAA

  • To foster fraternal relations among retired, active duty, reserve component, and former officers of America’s uniformed serves, and their surviving spouses

  • To protect the rights and interests of all members of the uniformed services and their families and survivors

  • To support our community and our nation

As stated in MOAA National’s slogan “We never stop Serving.”

Meetings-

The chapter meets monthly, on the third Thursday (6:00 PM) at the Through the Grapevine Restaurant in Murfreesboro, TN (630 Broadmor St.). NOTE: Meals at the restaurant are $17 each, with prior reservation made through the chapter secretary or designated chapter representative. Most often, we socialize, have a great meal, and listen to an interesting invited speaker. Our intent is to have our speakers share information or their experiences, on national, state or locally important subjects. Sometimes we plan meetings with a more entertainment-focused objective, such as our annual picnic and Christmas program.
